With You

 

I curled myself into a ball

And made myself as small

As I felt when I was

With you.

 

I diminished myself

Until I almost disappeared

I always felt less than

Never equal to your greater

When I was

With you.

 

When we first parted

I felt isolated,

separated, worthless, and alone

Much like I did when I was

With you,

but…

Now I am a priority

I’m no longer the afterthought

I was when I was

With you.

 

I’m walking in my purpose

I’m pleasing God and me.

Embracing my flaws

And healing the scars I earned when I was

With you.

 

I’m enjoying life and living it.

I can finally breathe free

Now that I realize that

love, joy, peace, and happiness

They all begin

With me.
