Fearless

Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Fear can be debilitating and even paralyzing. No two people have exactly the same fears for the same reasons. Whether it’s the fear of public speaking , the fear of traveling alone, or even the fear going back to school, usually the thing that causes us the most trepidation is the thing that we are called to do. God encourages us and admonishes us to be strong, courageous, and even fearless, not in our own power, but in the power of His might.  Remember, God has your back wherever you go, so you never have cause to be discouraged or afraid.

Affirm It!

  • I Am Strong!
    • I Am Courageous!
      • I Am Fearless!

Indifferent

pexels-photo-818819.jpeg

You were my first thought every morning,

Memories of you flooded my mind before

The light of the new day hit my eyes,

But now I’m just…

Indifferent

You were my last thought every evening,

Hopes and dreams of what never will be

Gave me a secret smile and sent me off to a place where we were perfect,

But now I’m just …

Indifferent.

There were times when I just wanted to be beside you,

I wanted to wear your clothes,

I wanted to sleep on your pillow, or even just breathe your air,

But now I’m just…

Indifferent.

There was a time when every decision I made

Was in consideration of

What you would think,

How you would feel,

Whether or not you would approve,

But now I’m just…

Indifferent.

I’d carefully select each outfit,

I’d curl my hair just so,

I’d apply my makeup; not too much, just enough to give me that glow.

I desperately tried to present the picture of me

That you desperately wanted to see,

But now, I’m just

Indifferent.

I’ve learned that I was letting your opinion of me

Be more than my opinion of myself

And neither of us valued me as much as He.

So, now I try to please Him.

Put a smile upon His face

I walk with a whole new confidence

Because I’m walking in His grace.

I’ve never experienced such a peacefulness

I’ve never known so much joy

I can smile genuinely and deeply,

Because now, I’m just

Different!

I Am Joy! I Am Praise! I Am a Song!

pexels-photo-226611.jpeg

Psalm 28:7

“The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”

Often women shoulder several responsibilities; at home, at work, or wherever we happen to be. It can be a bit overwhelming, especially if it feels like we’re doing it on our own. However, we are not alone! This scripture can be used as an encouragement, a mantra, and a motivation. Command your soul to bless the Lord, for you are not alone.

Affirm It!

  • The Lord is my Strength!
    • I Am Strong!
  • The Lord is my Shield!
    • I Am Protected!
  • The Lord is my Joy!
    • I Am Joy!
      • I Am Praise!
        • I Am a Song!

Bubbles, Ripples, and Trails

The bubbles in the wake of a passing ship are loud! They dance, they pop, they expend all of their energy, and then they disappear out of sight.

20171010_061517The ripples in the wake of a passing ship are forceful, resilient, and reactive! They roll, they crash, they break, and they dash, all in response to being disturbed from their normal, placid state. They’ll push back, but eventually, they will back down until they, too, disappear out of sight.

The trail left by the wake of a passing ship extends as far as the eye can see. It causes you to think and to remember. It inspires you to do and to become. It leaves a lasting impression long after it has disappeared from sight!

Are you a bubble, a ripple, or a trail?

Getting Out of my Comfort Zone

pexels-photo-110473.jpegMy life was small, and I was comfortable with that. It was far easier to make excuses than to make changes. I knew my purpose, and  I had no less than a dozen black-and-white, marbled journals full of great ideas. Shoot, I even had a vision board! (You’ll learn more about that in The Journey). So what was the problem? I knew what I was supposed to do, but I just couldn’t seem to do it. The answer dawned on my while I was listening to  a Jazmine Sullivan song, which was appropriately entitled ‘Fear’.  Apparently Jazmine and I have a lot in common. Anyway, change is scary, but it is necessary! This blog is all about changing and getting out of my comfort zone; a process that is decidedly UN-comfortable by the way. I don’t have it all together yet, but it’s way past time to  launch out and try something new!

You Wear It Well!

Proverbs 31:25

“She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.”

“You have survived the worse season of your life!” Though it seems clichéd, it holds a certain amount of truth. Sometimes we wear our strength and dignity as a badge of honor, and at other times, we wear it as a shield of protection. Either way, everything that we have been through and survived makes us stronger for the next challenge. It is when we look at our past victories that we can look forward to our new challenges and laugh because “We’ve been there, and we’ve done that!”

Affirm It!

  • God made me strong!
    • I Am Strength!
  • God clothed me in dignity!
    • I Am Dignity!
  • God made me to laugh!
    • I Am Laughter!

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me! It promises to be an interesting expedition. There have been many starts and stops, many missteps along the way, and many wrong turns, but I have discovered it’s all about the journey. I’m not quite sure where this is going, but I believe I’ll write on and see what the end’s gonna be! By the way, you’re not allowed to adjust the air or change the radio station, but I’d love to chat with you. Feel free to leave a comment. You are welcome!
